5 Most Expensive Vehicle Repairs

No one likes to think about damage that might occur to their vehicle, large or small. However, not all damages a vehicle can incur are created equal, and you should know the most expensive vehicle repairs so you won't be shocked at the repair price when you have to have certain repairs done.

Hybrid Inverter Assembly

Hybrid inverters allow your car to easily go between electrical power and gas power without so much as a thought. Often times, hybrid inverters will serve to make your car both environmentally friendly to the world and economically friendly to your own pocketbook.

Having said that, there is nothing economically friendly about having a hybrid inverter damaged and having to have it reassembled. It is highly recommended that you have your hybrid inverter inspected after you have driven for a good while. Your auto manual should tell you the specific mileage at which your car is ready for a hybrid inverter inspection. Inspections catch problems at the first sign of trouble so that the inverter can be repaired, rather than replaced.

Transmission and Torque Converter Replacement

Transmission and torque converter replacement is the bane of every vehicle owner and the stuff of nightmares of those who have had to have these parts replaced in their vehicle. Transmission and torque converters are quite pricey to replace.

As such, it is always important to be on the lookout for any and all warning signs that might indicate that your transmission or torque converter is about to give out. These include, but are not limited to overheating, shuddering, slipping, dirty fluid, high stall speeds and strange "grinding" noises.

Transfer Case Shift Motor Replacement

On a number of vehicles, you can easily switch between 2 and 4 wheel drive with a button near the steering wheel. This is the transfer case shift motor and it is quite expensive to replace. Unfortunately, this is a common problem that occurs with these vehicles and, as such, there are ways to avoid having to get it replaced, in general. It is highly recommended that you avoid using this switch frequently while driving, as this will tend to wear out the transfer case shift motor quite quickly.

Transmission Replacement

There is nothing quite so dreaded as having to replace your transmission. Transmission replacements can cost you up to $3,800. There are ways that you can prevent this nightmare from becoming a reality, however.

The easiest and best thing you can do is frequently checking on your transmission fluid, making sure that the fluid is full and that it is clean. Dirty transmission fluid – or a lack of fluid – can easily cause your transmission to burn up and that is something that you definitely do not want to deal with.

Fuel Injection Pump Replacement

Fuel injection pumps are integral to making sure that your car is running smoothly by transferring the fuel from the gas tank to the engine. You will know that your fuel pump isn't working properly if your car's engine starts to stall often, the engine is hard to start or if you experience engine surges.

By making sure that you regularly flush out your fuel injection pump, the chances of you ever having to replace it are, thankfully, slim to none.

If you are facing an expensive vehicle repair, you might want to talk to your mechanic about things that you can do, such as buying third-party or used auto parts, to lower the price of your repair. These repairs might be very expensive, but they are necessary in order for your car to run smoothly and efficiently. For more information, check it out here.
